Duotronic In development

Honest by Design

Where the system stands.

We only claim what is built. Below is where Duotronic stands today: what is not yet built, and what already runs in the console shell in development.

Clear Boundaries

What is not yet built

Unfinished parts are listed plainly, so you know what to expect.

Hardware Detection
Not Yet Built
Duotronic does not detect your hardware automatically. Screen area and refresh rate are chosen during setup.
In-Game Telemetry
Not Yet Built
Live performance figures read “isn't available today” in the Guide. They are in development.
In-Game Capture
Not Yet Built
Recording video and taking screenshots during play are not built yet.
Store Connections
Sample Data
The library and download screens run on sample games. Connections to real stores are not built yet.
RAID0 Storage
When Built
Combining two internal drives into one storage space is described as “when built”. Today Duotronic installs to a single dedicated drive.
Screen Reader
In Progress
Screen reader: spoken output in development.
HDR Output
Calibration Only
The calibration card and paper-white setting are built. Sending HDR to the TV during play is in development.

Console Architecture

What is running in the console shell

These parts are built, run in the console shell in development, and are checked by automated tests.

10-Foot Console Shell
Running in Shell
A controller-first interface designed for the sofa. When nothing is happening, it stops redrawing.
Focus & Navigation
Running in Shell
D-pad navigation that remembers where you were. B is always Back.
Clean Game Start
Running in Shell
Games start without extra launcher screens.
Installer Contract
Running in Shell
The drive is confirmed by its serial number before anything is erased, and every file is checked before first start.
First-Boot Setup
Running in Shell
Six steps: language, controller, display calibration, network, time zone and account linking.
Phone Sign-In
Running in Shell
Scan a QR code with your phone, or use an 8-character code instead. You never type your password on the TV.
Recovery Moments
Running in Shell
Designed screens for an update that did not finish, a full drive, a game that stopped unexpectedly, and a display setting that did not suit the TV.
Power Transitions
Running in Shell
Sleep, restart, turn off, and update then turn off, each with its own screen.
Accessibility Suite
Running in Shell
Three text sizes, a high contrast mode designed for 7:1 contrast, a focus ring that does not rely on colour, and reduced motion.
Update recoveryDesigned so that an update that does not finish steps back to the version you had.
Storage recoveryWhen there is no room, it offers to clear shaders or remove games you choose.
